Back to Immensea

Hello everyone, I’m back from my holidays in Verge Vendor. This may be a little confusing since I clearly stated in my last show on Legacy Radio and blog last week that I was already in high-sec. Well, it’s not that hard to figure out: going over to The Forge is most definitely not a holiday, more like an ordeal. Ewww Caldari space.

Anywho, I’m looking forward to bringing you video editions of our shows on Legacy Radio, which will be available on Twitch soon.

Woop!

The great adventure of radio

Some important news about Legacy Radio (my project with Squidwolf Media) there is probably going to be a little postponement with the video side of things. Nothing to worry about, just some technical cock up at the suppliers, so we’re now looking at an on-screen version of the broadcast during September. And it’ll be over on Twitch, update your diaries.

It’s all good! I ordered an ATEM device from Blackmagic but due to Covid-19, they have a massive backlog of orders to get through, so we are literally in a queue for the device.

Its almost time

Today I’ve just got a few housekeeping things to sort out. I forgot to link to the official Legacy Radio website so here it is.

Its less than 24 hours until the launch of the radio station and I’m starting to get nervous. This always happens, I’m completely calm about deadlines until they are right on top of me, despite everything being on time.

Jim Halescott is going to pop into our open comms Discord for the launch show so that’ll be nice, I hope to see you guys there too!

Explosive in every sense

I can’t wait to get back on the air in a few days, this is going to be a great year for EVE Online. Coalitions are going at each others throats which could see the degradation fo the blue donut, the Triglavians are causing problems for everyone, and the shake-up of real estate across the cluster is getting at everyone’s goat.

EVE Forever

Legacy Radio is almost here

It’s Wednesday (or Tuesday, from certain, fatter perspectives), and that means it’s time for the release of the Legacy Radio teaser. This week, in the aftermath of my stress over all things business-related in the UK, I took the time to put this video together as I think we all need something to look forward to.

My YouTube is dead

Well, it just goes to show, doesn’t it? You spend years putting in the effort into properly crafted. YouTube videos that get zero hits, and someone comes along with a video of a guy getting hit in the nuts and it gets millions of hits. Maybe I should just give up and focus entirely on the radio. Anywho, here is a preview of my channel if you’d like to take a look.

To those who have logged out, and to those who are still here.

How To do things

By popular demand, this is a breakdown of the equipment I was using for Gal Mil Radio. Bear in mind that this set up is no longer relevant to Legacy Radio and I won’t bother explaining the kit we are using because we may turn that Q&A into a feature, so here is the breakdown:

Software
Audio Hijack
Farrago
GarageBand
Radiologik
LadioCast

Hardware
Corsair headset

As you can see, this setup is very basic. Besides the insanely expensive software licences, the overall quality suffered because we didn’t have professional mics. Cross-talking was a big problem and thankfully our new gear removes that issue.

Ships of the gallente variety

This week’s Gal Mil Radio podcast (and the last one in this series) is up on Soundcloud. It is sad to see Gal Mil Radio go but its necessary for us to move forwards with our plans at our new home in Legacy. Things are starting to get real and you’ve no doubt noticed that I’ve stopped doing little snippet videos for these things, I simply don’t have the time right now.

As always, IRL stuff gets in the way of my internet spaceships and every time I manag to get on top of my ever-growing to do list, a curveball is thrown my way and knocks me back again. Its like a never-ending game of Whack-A-Mole, and these metaphors are becoming strained.

Anyways, check us out on the usual places. We’ve rebranded the pages on Facebook, Twitter, and we also have a shiny new website going live soon. Show your love!

Last night was a crucial night in the development of the studio for Legacy Radio as I’ve just wired in the final pieces of gear which will stop us sounding like potatoes on the airwaves. In hindsight I should have investment in proper gear from the beginning, but the grass is always greener or something.

I heard a story that Jim is planning to attack the TTT Keepstar in Perimeter, yeah….right.
